MissionFish - What is it?

MissionFish is run by eBay for charity - a unique programme that helps charities raise money on eBay.  There are programmes in a number of countries including the UK and the US and charities of any size can sign up. eBay.co.uk has over 21 million users and so you are guaranteed to reach a large audience. MissionFish UK raises approximately £11,000 for charities each day.

MissionFish enables charities to raise funds on eBay in a number of ways.  You can:

1. Receive donations online - when people sell anything on eBay they can choose to donate either a percentage or 100% of the proceeds to charities registered on the site.

2. You can run an online charity shop - for many charities guaranteed to get a far wider audience than you would achieve via your own website.

3. You can hold special events or auctions for fundraising purposes.

Who can sign up?

In the UK, any registered charity can sign up for free at www.missionfish.org.uk.

To register you need:

  • a working email address
  • a copy of your logo as a JPEG or GIF etc
  • to write a brief mission statement - up to 512 characters only
  • proof of your charitable status (in the UK largely via your inclusion in the Charity Commission Register of Charities)
  • a voided cheque from your organisation or a paying in slip
