Article Marketing

Submitting content to article directories and eZines with links back to your site

Content Syndication

Syndicating your content out to other sites using RSS in order to get your marketing message out onto the wider internet and as part of an SEO strategy.

Display Advertising

Display or Banner Advertising typically features a graphic, animation or even a video sequence embedded on a popular web page. Display advertising is designed to attract attention and get the viewer to click through to your site as a result. You pay an agreed fee to the site where your advert appears - either a fixed fee or a small charge each time someone clicks the banner through to you or alternatively a per impression rate - for example a set fee each time your advert is shown 1,000 times. Affiliate networks can facilitate the distribution of your banner ads across a range of sites.  Display advertising was prominent in the earlier days of the web but is now considered to be less effective than other forms of online marketing.  It nevertheless is appropriate for some organisations.

Links Generation: Directories

Submitting your site to directories that are relevant to your organisation.  Directories should include:

  • Local
  • Regional
  • National
  • Topically Related
  • Speciality sites
  • Pay for Inclusion directories (be cautious here - it's generally not worth paying unless the directory has the potential to provide click through traffic in a volume that warrants the fee)

Links Generation - General

Developing links to your site from a wide range of third party websites - the more relevant these third party sites are to you the better.

Online Public Relations

Writing useful / interesting articles for other reputable publications can be a great way of generating quality links to your site, building trust around your organisation and getting people to click through to you.

Promotions

Promotions e.g. via an offsite Voucher Code system with the potential for viral marketing

Paid for Advertising

Paying for banner ads or other links to your site on third party sites via a pay per click or cost per 1000 impressions (CPM) model.

Viral Marketing

Producing games, videos or other features that users can interact with and that they are likely to send on to friends or colleagues.  Viral Marketing tactics may be delivered via email or social media sites such as Facebook (via an application) or YouTube.
